ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Missouri Lottery player wins $50,000 from a recently released scratcher after using a calculator to add up a series of prizes.

A Missouri Lottery player used a calculator to add up a series of prizes from a recently released scratcher that rewarded her $50,000.

While shopping with her husband at a Bonne Terre Harps Food Store, located at 50 Berry Road, a woman decided to buy the $10 ‘Christmas Countdown’ scratcher after it had caught her eye.

After scratching the ticket, the woman was left surprised when the ticket revealed a series of prizes that totaled up to $50,000.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I even took out my calculator to add up the prizes!”

After making sure she had the correct number of zeros on the ticket, the woman turned to her husband to show him the ticket.

“He didn’t believe it either,” she said. “He went back in to the store to scan the ticket to make sure we won!”

The couple is now up $50,000 and have shared that they plan to use some of the winnings towards a vaction they had already planned.

The $10 ‘Christmas Countdown’ scratcher ticket was initially released by the Missouri Lottery in October. There is a 1 in 3.18 chance of winning a prize when playing the “Christmas Countdown” scratchers ticket.

So far, players have won over $4.1 million in prizes since the holiday scratcher was released. There is still $12.5 million remaining in unclaimed prizes, including two top prizes of $200,000 and three additional $50,000 prizes.
