MANCHESTER, Mo. — As the famous television host Fred Rodgers said on “Mister Rodgers Neighborhood,” “You make each day a special day. You know how, by just your being you.”
In honor of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” Day on Thursday, the city of Manchester shared a unique video highlighting the city’s officials, first responders, businesses and residents.
A video was shared on Facebook in honor of Fred Roger’s birthday which celebrates a day of “kindness, compassion and community,” according to the post.
The video follows the famous neighborhood trolley with Rogers starting with Mayor Mike Clement then travels to schools, grocery stores, the city’s police department to resident homes.
According to the video, these are ways to become neighborly:
- Say Hello & Check In: Share a smile or greet neighbors, especially those living alone.
- Lend a Helping Hand: Help with small tasks like shoveling or bringing in trash carts.
- Share Kindnes: Leave a note, share treats, or offer compliments.
