ST. LOUIS — USA Today searched across the country with a panel of experts to nominate the best public playgrounds across the U.S. and one St. Louis site ranked high as voted on by USA Today readers.

USA Today 10Best crowned Variety Wonderland Playground in Forest Park as the fourth-best public playground in the country. The park was noted for its half-acre space that “lives up to its name.”

The playground features several play pods that USA Today said engaged every age and ability level. According to USA Today, the facility was one of the first playgrounds in St. Louis that was fully accessible to children of all abilities.

From the playground’s rock wall, water features, slides, swings, sensory panels, and wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round, there are many adventures awaiting children of all ages.

The Nest at Downtown Cary Park in Cary, North Carolina, was ranked as the top public playground, followed by Chapman Foundation Adventure Playground at Gathering Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Ranking just one above the Variety Wonderland Playground was the Kendall Weisgerber Memorial Playground in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin.
