ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A military veteran faces charges of threatening to kill his former roommate late last year.
According to the Olivette Police Department’s probable cause statement, the incident occurred on Dec. 18, 2024.
Police said the suspect, Paul April (age not disclosed), used to reside in veterans homeless housing with a roommate, but April had since moved out. On Dec. 18, April allegedly sent texts and emails to a woman who is acquainted with both April and the victim.
In those messages, April threatened to return to the property, fully armed and prepared to kill his former roommate. April also told the woman he’d see her later when he came to the property.
Investigators eventually found April at his parents’ home. When asked about the threatening messages, police claim April told officers not to worry about that because it didn’t concern them.
April was taken into custody at his parents’ house. Police said they found numerous firearms in the basement where April was staying.
During an interview with detectives, April said he had a traumatic brain injury and suffered from PTSD from his military service.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged April with second-degree making a terrorist threat and first-degree harassment.
