ST. LOUIS – Quiet and warmer on Monday. The day will start sunny with increasing clouds through the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Into the early morning hours of Tuesday, after 3 a.m., showers and storms will begin to develop. Breezy, wake-up temperatures in the upper 40s.

Two rounds of thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday. The first in the morning, then a break around midday. This early round could bring some small hail along with pockets of heavy rain. A second round of rain and storms is expected to move north into the St. Louis region Tuesday afternoon.

The second round of rain could produce some strong to severe storms, especially across southern Missouri. Highs Tuesday will be in the upper 50s and non-thunderstorm winds could gust to 40 mph.

Rain and storms are expected to end by midnight, but wrap-around showers are expected to move in by daybreak Wednesday as colder air returns. Gusty winds and falling temperatures all day Wednesday. The last of the rain may even switch to some brief snow as temperatures fall into the 30s. Clear and quieter Thursday. More rain is possible Friday night.

Heads up! Illinois has planned to have its Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Missouri is expected to have theirs Wednesday at 11 a.m. As of this writing, it is unclear if ongoing active weather may delay those test runs.
