ST. LOUIS – The lingering rain of Thursday evening has exited, but some clouds and a few wrap-around showers will linger through 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Skies will clear later Friday morning, with sunshine returning Friday afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach highs in the upper 70s. That sunshine may be a bit hazy Friday due to smoke from Canadian wildfires moving through the upper atmosphere and into the Mississippi River Valley. Expect that smoke to be around through the weekend, leading to some stunning sunrises and sunsets.

The weekend looks much warmer and almost completely dry, with high temperatures in the mid-80s for Saturday and mid- to upper 80s for Sunday. A backdoor cold front, sinking out of the Great Lakes, may squeeze a few spot showers out over Illinois late Saturday. Most will stay dry.

We’ll be in the upper 80s early next week, close to the 90 F mark we have yet to hit officially this calendar year in St. Louis. It’s expected to be cloudy Tuesday with breezy conditions and rain chances late in the day.
