ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis area has seen quite a few days over the last several weeks of the sun being blocked by haze—including Wednesday.
While the haze last week was due to an increase in smoke plumes across the country, especially in the Midwest, this time is stems from dust plumes from the south and southwest.
Dust can be easily seen coming in from Oklahoma, Texas, and southwestern deserts on satellite.
These hazy skies are expected to subside this afternoon, according to FOX 2 meteorologist Chris Higgins. The dust will continue to move northeast as the days go on.
States in the south and southwest have been experiencing numerous dust storms with winds reaching up to 70 mph.
