ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Ferguson woman was arrested and charged this week with going to her ex-boyfriend’s apartment and attempting to shoot his new girlfriend, only to miss at close range.

According to the Maryland Heights Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on Nov. 4 at an apartment complex just off Dorsett Road, southeast of Creve Coeur Park.

Police said Aaliyah Carr (age not provided) took her father’s gun, got into her car, and drove to her ex’s apartment. She hid the gun in her waistband, and her ex-boyfriend let her in the residence so they could talk.

At one point, police said Carr pushed her ex aside and walked to the rear bedroom and found a woman sitting on the bed. Carr took the gun from her waistband and fired a shot at the victim.

The bullet missed the victim and struck the headboard she was resting against, police said.

The ex-boyfriend was able to snatch the gun from Carr before she could fire again and then removed the magazine. The victim ran from the apartment to a neighbor and called police for help. Carr left the apartment with her unloaded gun.

Police later found Carr and the firearm. She was served with an arrest warrant on Nov. 6.

Police said Carr admitted going to her ex-boyfriend’s apartment and firing a shot at the victim.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Carr with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Carr remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond, with additional conditions if released. She’s due in court for a bond reduction hearing on Nov. 14.
