ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis woman is charged with stealing an ambulance Wednesday night after being discharged from the hospital.

According to Evita Caldwell, a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson, SLU Hospital reported ambulance had been stolen just before 9:45 p.m.

Police learned the suspect, Nicole Lynn Lecrone-Foraker, 34, had just been discharged prior to taking the vehicle. The ambulance had been left running outside the emergency room while paramedics dropped off a patient.

The ambulance was located approximately 15 to 20 minutes later after crashing near the intersection of Thrush and West Florissant avenues, just outside the Northway Supermarket. Police found Lecrone-Forake at the scene, wrapped in a hospital blanket.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Lecrone-Foraker with one count of stealing a motor vehicle. She was jailed without bond. No future court date is available in online records.
